An own goal 20 minutes from time settled this opening day fixture in the favour of the away side last Saturday.

With several 'senior' players unavailable or promoted to first team duty it was always going to be a hard task but the youngsters worked hard to stay in the game.

The best chance fell to the home side when Ryan Warner chased down a long throughball and having caught out the keeper and a defender tricked his way in from the bye line, unfortunately he chose to shoot from an acute angle and the ball bounced back off of the foot of the post and away to safety.

In the second half the more experienced Totton side controlled the major share of the ball burt resolute defending by the back four and a couple of smart saves by home goalkeeper Luke Theakstone kept the home side in the game.

Town created another great opportunity when Alex Ledger cleverly jinked his way into the box and instead of shooting himself tried to play in a colleague but the last defender managed to clear. The game was settled when a ball into the box was sliced into the net by a home defender.
