A change around in the playing staff was enforced after a string of bad results. In to the side came 2 talented young Alton Players, Ben Choularton and Marcus Moore, old timer Rich McCann slotted into the central defence alongside Clive Hibbert as these two in previous games have looked very good.

With a lively first half both teams who have been on the wrong side of results recently battled, Christchurch playing a more direct route to goal whilst Alton team got the ball down and played some good football. Both teams had many chances to open the scoring but neither side could take their chances and went in at half time 0-0.

The second half, Alton had more percentage of play as they kept hold of the ball and played it around and on many occasions getting it out to Presto to run at the Christchurch back line which he did with some ease. Marcus Moore bought into the side was lively on the flanks and was also able a couple of time to get around the defence to create chances.

On 55 minutes the best chance of the game fell to Mark Corbett who was sent through one on one with the keeper only to see his shot saved. Then 2 minutes later Pa Kinteh had an opportunity which he unleashed a right foot shot which the goal keeper somehow saved.

But then on 75 Minutes Christchurch scored the opening goal of the game to go 1 – 0 up. Alton from the kick off pressed to find an equalizer then 4 minutes after Christchurch goal a good cross from Preston found the head of Simba who powerfully headed the ball home to level up the score at 1-1.

Play then really opened up with both teams going close, then Lee Mcgavin switched off at a Christchurch throw in which allowed his player to get around him only to see Lee bring down the Christchurch player in the penalty area which the referee awarded a penalty. Christchurch penalty kick was a poor one which was sent over the cross bar.

Then again the last two minutes of the game a free kick was awarded to Christchurch which the Alton Town players switch off from only to see the No 15 Sub for Christchurch standing free inside the 6 Yard box to head home the winner.

Although a pleasing performance from Alton Town it is now time to make these scoring opportunities count at the other end and for the whole team to stay switched on all the way through to 90 minutes as it is getting too common for teams to score in the last minute of the games against us.
