The night could have started better, after losing Callum Burch due to injury in the warm up. Replacing him was Nick Sharp, who was making his first start in 3 games after a toe problem. The only other change after the 0-0 draw at Bracknell was Josh Brewster coming in at left back for Scott Browne.
Alton started the game sloppy and was slow to close the Cove players down. However it was Alton who broke the deadlock after great determination from Tricker, who slide tackled the Cove defender and slot home well. Alton's lead didnt last long after a corner saw the Cove captain climbed well above anybody else to head into the net. This opened up the game and it was Alton who scored next after a superb free kick from Brewster saw Jay McQuitty smash the rebound into the roof of the net, for his first goal for the club. A go save from Mo kept the hosts in the lead. Alton were playing some good football at really took control of the game after Nick Sharp raced through after a Kinch flick-on to round the keeper at make it 3-1 at Halftime.
Alton dominated the second half, which Jamie Kinch made sure of the points after a good finish following good build up play between Jones, Ledger and Brewster. Mo decided to give the fans something to cheer about after some quaility keep ups in goal!
Overall a good performance and even better result. The players learned a lesson on discipline tonight. After a red card in the reverse fixture this season cost us the game, the result tonight showed, what might of been at Cove with 11 v 11. The next game for the Youth is away at Binfield on Thursday 15th October.
ALTON TOWN YOUTH: Mo Nyamunga: Jay McQuitty, Lewis Graham, Mike Turner, Josh Brewster (Scott Browne): Jack Jones, Nick Sharp (Alex Ledger), Jake Bishop, George Woodger (Ollie Copplestone): Elliot Tricker, Jamie Kinch: Unused sub: Josh Brown
