Alton went into the game on a decent run of performances in recent weeks. A re-shuffle in midfield saw Alton go back to a 4-4-2 with Marcus Moore and Alex Ledger coming in for George Woodger and Jake Bishop. The only other change was Scott Browne starting ahead of Josh Brewster at left back.
Alton started well, keeping possession and moving the ball around well. The went ahead on 15 mins after great work from Nick Sharp with close control in the box, after staying on his feet he danced round the Binfield defender to lay the ball on a plate for Eidur Tricker to tap in. Binfield troubled the Alton back line with some good corners and poor marking nearly cost them the equaliser, but the Binfield forward could only hit the bar. A good cross Jay McQuitty was looked to have been turned in by Alex Ledger, but he saw his effort come back off the post. Alton went in at half time 1-0 up.
Alton once again started brightly and was so close to making it 2-0 but Tricker's thumping shot came back off the post. With the game going end to end the second goal was needed. It finally come when good work in the middle saw Nick Sharp sent an inch perfect pass to Tricker, who saw his first effort saved but reacted to the lose ball to slot home to make it 2-0. After an outstanding night of work rate and effort, saw Jamie Kinch take a well earned rest, who was replaced by Callum Burch. He had in instant impact, firstly tapping in from close range to make it 3-0 after Sharp roasted the Binfield left back to square the ball, then rapping the game up after getting on to a long ball, out muscled the defender and smash the ball in to the net to make it 4-0 and 3 points. The only negative to take from the game is having to have our goalkeeper, Mo Nyamunga be replaced in injury time with an injured finger.
Team: Mo Nyamunga (Adam Henwood), Jay McQuitty, Lewis Graham, Mike Turner, Scott Browne, Jack Jones, Marcus Moore, Nick Sharp (C) (Jake Bishop), Alex Ledger, Jamie Kinch (Callum Burch) and Eidur Tricker.
Another great performance from the lads tonight who are gelling really good as a team and showing maturity by taking the things we have been working on at training and showing them in the games. Confidence is high after making it 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in our first 5 league games. Our next game is at home on Wednesday 21st October in the Hampshire Floodlit Cup v Newport I.O.W, Kick off 7:30pm. It would be nice to see some of the senior players over watching the game to support the boys.
