The young Brewers produced an almost perfect performance to inflict a resounding win against the highly rated Under 18's of our Sydenhams Wessex League senior opponent Newport (IOW).
Two goals in a four minute spell on the half hour allowed Alton to grow in confidence. Jamie Kinch scored from 10 yards when Callum Burch's low cross, following a sweet pass from Scott Browne, was met just as it should be. Newport's attack from the restart was broken up and Alton moved forward on the right to be awarded a free kick. Marcus Moore's well flighted ball was knocked across goal where Kinch decided to leave it to Alex Ledger to increase the home side's lead, which they saw out to the interval.
Mo Nyamunga replaced Adam Henwood in goal at half time and made sure he performed as well as his predecessor to maintain another clean sheet for the Town Youth.
Jamie Kinch, having worked his proverbial socks off, was replaced on the hour by Elliot Tricker who made his mark with two superb goals to kill off any thoughts that the visitors might have had of mounting a challenge. Running on to a precise through ball from Marcus Moore he drove home low to the keeper's right from the edge of the box and followed this 10 minutes later with a cheeky but deliberate lob having out-muscled Newport's centre half to take advantage of Callum Burch's slotted ball into space.
Alton Town Youth Adam Henwood (Mo Nyamunga): Jay McQuitty, Lewis Graham, Mike Turner, Scott Browne: Jake Bishop (Henry Fox), Marcus Moore, Nick Sharp, Alex Ledger: Callum Burch, Jamie Kinch (Elliot Tricker) Subs not used: Tom Castle, Aaron Bunney.
