Proof of the progress of Alton’s young side was there for all to see on Saturday afternoon as they they brushed aside a strong Brockenhurst side who had comfortably beaten them earlier in the season down in the New Forest.

Chances were few and far between during the first half as the defences performed well as both sides got the ball down on the excellent playing surface in what was a good battle to take the upper hand. Dan Gray should have put the home side ahead when well placed, in trying to switch the ball onto his stronger foot it allowed a defender vital seconds to nick the ball away from him when in front of goal.

If the 1st half was competitive the second half belonged to the hungry home side as time after time they tore into the visitors down both flanks passing the ball fluently and quickly from left to right. The opening goal superbly finished by Sam Knight into the top left hand corner opened the floodgates, Alex Ledger breaking clear to calmy finish past the on rushing keeper for the second and Dan Gray completing the scoring with a customary strike from 20 yards. The visiting keeper made numerous vital blocks to keep the score respectable as Alton continued to press home their advantage. A good all round performance.
