Alton Town dominated local rivals Petersfield on Saturday afternoon at the bass sports ground creating chance after chance against the more experienced visitors.

Petersfield will have left thankful to their brave keeper, the woodwork on four occasions and some wasteful finishing or they would have been on the end of a very heavy defeat. Altons youngsters started well and it soon became apparent that the away side would have there work cut out in containing them, this was reflected in the four first half bookings that the referee administered as they worked hard to stay in touch. First half goals from Dan Gray and Sam Knight gave them a healthy half time lead but in reality the game should have been over as chances went begging as they continually opened up the overworked defence.

If Petersfield had any thoughts of getting back in the game they were quickly put in there place as the woodwork was struck 3 times in quick sucession and another couple of guilt edged chances went begging. Two more goals from Sam Knight and substitute Alex Ledger gave the result a fairer reflection, but this was another exciting performance, based on sound defending a willingness to play football from the back and the ability to break at pace down both flanks that Petersfield were unable to contain.
