Plenty of Incident in this game as Alton dented Moneyfields title challenge on Wednesday evening. The away took the game to the hosts and led after 10 minutes breaking down the right, Alex Lowley blasting home from close in with the defence all over the place. 5 minutes later Sam Knights shot from 20 yards rebounded back off the bar as Alton dominated.
Moneyfields were strugglin to stay in the game and right on cue were awarded a very dubious penalty, big Steve Larvan ajudged to have barged over a much bigger oponent!!!
Having got their equaliser Moneyfields quickly took the lead, breaking down the right there agile small striker finished well into the bottom left hand corner from the edge of the box. A goal at the break Shaun Flanighan changed the shape of the team and commited a third attacker to the game, this positive and risky move against one of the stronger clubs in the league did work as Alton gained good possesion of the ball and started to create further chances.
Then the predictable happened , the referee awarded the away side a dubious penalty rectfying his earlier mistake but Tony Lumb's shot was well saved by the Moneyfield's stopper ( Alton and penalty's in the last few weeks , I give up !!!! ). Still they pushed on and finally got the equaliser which was the least they deserved having out footballed one of the best footballing teams in the league . Tony Lumb's free kick from the righ struck the bar and Craig Reed reacted first to blast home through a crowd of players.
The last few minutes provided scary moments in both penalty areas as both sides looked for the winner , Moneyfield's would be the happiest with the point at the end.
