The now traditional pre-season friendly between Alton Town and Aldershot Town takes place at the Bass Sports Ground on Saturday 17th July.
This will be the fourth consecutive pre-season meeting between the local sides which was initiated by the late and well loved Aldershot chairman, John McGinty. 'We're delighted that Aldershot are able to again take part in this fixture' said Alton chairman, Jim McKell. 'Certainly we at Alton Town regard it as fitting to the memory of that Irish Altonian that was John McGinty and we know that some hundreds of Shots fans regard this game as the opening of their new season and we look forward to again offering them a warm welcome at our Bass Sports Ground' added McKell.
It should be noted that kick off is at 1.00pm.
Alton have lined up an impressive pre-season home fixture list kicked off against Godalming with a worthy 2-2- draw and continues with a premium game on Tuesday evening (13th) against Salisbury City at 7.45pm and a glamour fixture later in the month with Basingstoke Town on Tuesday 27th at 7.45pm.
New Alton Town manager, John Robson, said he was delighted to have attracted such quality opposition in pre-season. 'It will let me see, in bits and pieces, what some of our players can do and how they can react. And that goes for our experienced players from last season as well as the new lads that have joined us' quipped 'Robbo'.
Alton complete their pre-season with away trips to Bookham, Cogenhoe United (Northampton) and Havant & Waterlooville (double header with Youth and Seniors).
