The early kick off on Saturday afternoon produced an emphatic win for Alton that would have been hard to predict after a luck luste 30 minutes when the visitors looked slightly the better side.

Neither side were able to produce a worthwhile goalscoring effort during that period but the game sprung to life with two quick fire goals from the home side just after the half hour mark, Richie McCann swept home the first after Opey Aldmona broke into the box down the left and Ben White added the second when he got clear down the right and finished well past the advancing keeper.

The second half was all one way traffic as the home side dominated throughout having made 6 changes at half time. Ian Humble added the third when he bulleted home a header from a Carl Saunders corner on the hour and thereafter chances came at regular intervals. Tom Brown added the forth from the penalty spot having himself been fouled and Paul Preston rounded the keeper to complete the scoring. Ike Robinson hit a post late on and also had a another good penalty shout waved away as the Petersfield defence worked overtime.

Good progression from the Alton side as they work towards the new season playing some confident passing football.
